Renaissance High School for the Arts

September 2017

Welcome Back Renaissance Parents and Students,

I am excited to continue to lead and work with the wonderful staff, parents, students and community that is Renaissance High School. The 2016-17 school year  was a great one for us!  We received a financial award of $7500.00 for having the greatest increase in attendance in the entire district!  We also made tremendous strides in our AP participation rate and are working on increasing the number of students that meet the A-G requirements. Our average GPA is on the rise  with the percentage of A's and B's increasing and the percentage of D's and F's decreasing. This year Renaissance will be going through the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation process from March 11-14.  During this time a visiting committee, consisting of members from other High Schools throughout California, will visit Renaissance to validate the teaching and learning that occurs in our classrooms every day. They will be analyzing how well we are meeting our goals:

Goal 1

Increase student proficiency on high stakes assessments.

Goal 2

Increase the number of students qualified for college.

Goal 3

Develop and implement rigorous and comprehensive interventions to reduce the number of students with GPAs below 2.0.

Goal 4

Increase opportunities for parents, community and industry partners to participate in supporting student achievement.

I am excited to announce our arts theme for the 2017-18 school year, "Lift Up the People." The theme focuses on the art, music and history of the Great Depression.  Look for student art throughout the year depicting this time culminating in our Open House Arts Festival on May 22.

Academics and Arts are keys to success at Renaissance High School for the Arts, and we will prepare your child to successfully compete in the 21st century global community!
