Principal's Message

Renaissance High School for the Arts

September 2018

Welcome Back Renaissance Parents and Students!

I am so excited to return to our newly remodeled site to lead and work with the wonderful staff, parents, students and community that is Renaissance High School. It is a beautiful school! The 2017-18 school year was a great one for us!  We received a six year accreditation from WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) with a one day mid cycle revisit.   This validates the great work our teachers and staff are doing every day to provide students with a quality arts education.  Our staff established the following three goals to guide us through the next six years:

Goal 1

Increase student academic proficiency in ELA and math in order to increase college readiness as measured by student achievement in all subgroups, including students with Disabilities, English Learners, and those on 504 plans, on state (SBAC) and national (PSAT/SAT/AP/A-G) assessments as well as increase the number of students with GPAs above 2.0.

Goal 2

Fully develop and implement our systematic assessment process in which teachers collect, disaggregate, analyze, and report student performance data to the school staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders in order to improve student achievement including students with Disabilities, English Learners, and those on 504 plans, .

Goal 3

Enhance climate and culture through providing a stronger sense of belonging for all students including those with a Disability, English Learners, and those on 504 plans, and by increasing our parent community involvement.

I am excited to announce our arts theme for the 2018-19 school year, "Myths and Legends." The theme focuses on the art, music and history of Myths and Legends from cultures all around the globe. Look for student art throughout the year depicting this theme which will culminate in our Open House Arts Festival on May 23.

After the final portion of construction is completed we will be having a Grand Opening Celebration, hopefully before the Thanksgiving break..  Check back for dates as we get closer to November!

Academics and Arts are keys to success at Renaissance High School for the Arts, and we will prepare your child to successfully compete in the 21st century global community!

Sincerely,

Kimberly Holland, Principal
