Tardy Policy & Early Outs Procedures

Tardy Policy

In order to maximize learning and keep our campus safe, it is essential that every student is in class, on time, each day. It is also essential that students remain in class, from tardy bell to dismissal bell, each period. The following policy will ensure that all students know what is expected of them, and also will know what steps will be taken to keep them accountable for attending each class, on time, every day.

Start of School Day:

  • Front gate will be opened each morning from 7:30am to 7:50am

  • Students who arrive after 7:50am will receive a tardy slip from our CSA at the Main Gate

  • At 8:05am, the CSA will allow students who arrived after 7:50am to go to class with their tardy pass

  • The CSA will then sweep the campus and move all unscheduled students to the cafeteria

  • Tardy slips will not be issued after 8:05am during the first class on Mondays, or 8:30am (during the first block) on Tuesday-Friday

  • Students who arrive after 8:05am on Mondays will have to wait to enter campus until the passing period bell rings (8:31am), unless a parent is present to check them into campus for the day, or they have a doctors note referencing an appointment prior to their arrival (must be on issued on the same date)

  • Students who arrive after 8:20am on Tuesday-Friday (block period days) will need to wait to enter the campus until the passing period bell rings (9:19am) unless a parent is present to check them into campus for the day, or they have a doctors note referencing an appointment prior to their arrival (must be on issued on the same date)

  • Students will not be allowed into class after the tardy bell rings without a tardy slip

  • Teachers will mark students “tardy” who arrive with a tardy slip

Arriving On Campus Mid-Period:

  • Students who arrive on campus more than 10 minutes late for periods 2-8 on Monday’s (all classes schedule) will not be allowed to enter the campus until the next passing period unless a parent is present to check them into campus for the day or they have a doctors note referencing an appointment prior to their arrival (must be on issued on the same date)

  • Students who arrive on campus more than 30 minutes late for any class period on Block Schedule days (Tuesday-Friday) will not be allowed to enter the campus until the next passing period unless a parent is present to check them into campus for the day or they have a doctors note referencing an appointment prior to their arrival (must be on issued on the same date)

Early-Out Requests

If a student needs to be released early from school:

Student may bring a signed note from parent/guardian the morning before school starts. The note must include: the student's full name, the time he/she must leave, the reason for leaving, the correct date, and a telephone number where a parent can be reached for verification purposes.

This is the most efficient and convenient way to request an early out because the office will not have to interrupt the classroom instruction with a phone call. When a student leaves for a doctor’s appointment, a doctor’s note is required when the student returns to school.
